How to Apply

The John Hugelen Cajun Music Scholarship Fund is a non-profit fund generated by the community of Cajun musicians and dancers to support aspiring Cajun musicians in the Upper Midwest. Its goal is to realize the long-standing wish of John and Sandy Hugelen to provide financial help to musicians who wish to immerse themselves in a unique Cajun music learning experience.

Applications are currently being taken for the following music camps scheduled for 2018:

Selection criteria include:

  • Clear dedication to learning to play Cajun music
  • Content of the application, including the letter of recommendation
  • Expression of financial need

Priority will be given to:

  • Musicians from the Upper Midwest (IA, IL, MI, MN, ND, SD,WI) 
  • To first-time attendees and/or musicians under the age of 30.

To be considered for a 2018 music camp the application and letters of recommendation must be postmarked by January 31st, 2018 and mailed to:
